Roberto Hermosillo

Music Teacher

Roberto Hermosillo is a proud graduate of Chaffey College and Pepperdine University, and the first Mexican guitarist to earn a Master of Music in Contemporary Performance (Production Concentration) from Berklee College of Music. He honed his craft under the guidance of world-renowned musicians including guitar virtuoso Christopher Parkening, Pat Pattison (mentor to John Mayer), Livingston Taylor, Latin jazz legend Victor Mendoza, saxophonist Perico Sambeat (of Pat Metheny’s band), and Dr. Peter Curtis.

For more than a decade, Roberto has taught music to students of all ages and skill levels. Before joining Sycamore Community School, he served as a music teacher at New Roads School in Santa Monica. While he specializes in teaching children ages 5 to 13, his students have ranged from toddlers to senior citizens. Roberto offers both private lessons and dynamic classroom instruction, including enrichment classes focused on Latin American music.

Roberto brings explosive enthusiasm to every lesson—his passion for music is at the heart of his teaching. He believes that joy is essential to learning how to perform, write, and ultimately, improvise music. In addition to teaching, Roberto is an accomplished composer with over 100 original songs and multiple recording credits. He also serves as an on-camera instructor for Fender Play, the guitar-learning app by the legendary Fender brand, where he was named the company’s Resident Latin Music Expert.

Roberto continues to teach privately through his own music school and is thrilled to share his love of music with the Sycamore Community School. When he’s not teaching, performing, or composing, you can find him skateboarding, hiking, or playing video games.
