Kathy Brisacher
K-4th Science Teacher
Kathy Brisacher grew up in Arlington Heights, Illinois. A family move brought her to Southern California, and it only took one California winter to convince her to leave behind the cold, snowy Midwest. She earned a B.A. in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Mrs. Brisacher has worn many hats as a parent volunteer at her sons’ schools, including serving as database coordinator for the annual silent auction, member of the parent guild, and parent athletic liaison. Grateful for the inspiring teachers who impacted her sons' lives, she understands the importance of collaboration between educators and families in shaping lifelong learners.
Since 2009, she has been sharing her love of science in classrooms across both public and private schools in West Los Angeles. One of her passions is bringing life science to life—quite literally—by incorporating live animals into her lessons, such as hatching chicks and quail, and observing praying mantises, butterflies, and ladybugs.
Mrs. Brisacher believes students should always feel safe asking questions and making mistakes. Her classes are designed to foster a supportive learning environment where students can connect their curiosity to real-world phenomena. Her mission is to cultivate inquisitive thinkers with a deep sense of wonder.
Outside of school, she enjoys hiking, reading, observing the night sky through her telescope, and baking (it’s kitchen chemistry, after all!). Mrs. B also loves biking along the beach path. She and her husband have two sons who share their passion for sports—both as players and as enthusiastic fans.
