Jennifer Mack

Art Teacher & Fourth Grade SS

Jennifer Mack grew up in Michigan and earned her B.A. in psychology from Northern Michigan University before moving to Southern California—a plan she had announced to her mother at the age of eight. Jennifer eventually settled in Los Angeles, where she completed her Montessori training and taught language arts to students in grades 3–8 at Santa Monica Montessori School. A unique homeschooling opportunity then drew her to Ojai, where she worked for several years while pursuing a master’s degree in counseling psychology.

Jennifer enjoyed supporting both elementary and high school students as a counselor but found herself missing the energy of the classroom. She later returned to Santa Monica, where she guest-taught extensively in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District while also creating and leading art education programs for children—from classes to after-school programs to camps.

Jennifer’s teaching philosophy encourages students to approach learning with curiosity, exploration, and openness. She firmly believes that trying new strategies and considering different perspectives leads to endless possibilities. Her happy place is a sunlit, music-filled classroom full of students engaged in creative projects. In addition to her passion for teaching, Jennifer aspires to publish picture books for children.

Outside the classroom, Jennifer loves spending time with her two children and enjoys long, meandering walks and impromptu family dance parties in the living room.
